What's New for Four Year Olds

Monthly Update

November

What a wonderful month October was!  Our room was full of mummies and skeletons as we prepared for Trick or Treating and as crazy as it seems we are entering November already.  Away went our Halloween decorations and out came Pilgrims, Native Americans and Mayflowers as we ready the room for Thanksgiving.

We will continue our adventures in the alphabet and learn all about the Thanksgiving feast as we prepare for the annual Thanksgiving play.  This year the play will be held on Wednesday, November 21st and begins at 10:30.  Our classroom is transformed into a theater where your children will present “Why Thanksgiving.”  This is open to all who would like to attend, however, please keep in mind that our room has limited space and seating so should you invite the neighborhood we may not be able to accommodate all.  LOL  It is usually best to keep those you invite to a minimum if possible.  ? The play lasts approximately 15 minutes…which may sound brief to you but is a lifetime for your children.  The boys and girls will be dismissed for the day at the conclusion of the play.

Each student will have a part in the play and their lines will go home this Thursday.  It is very important that you practice these lines with your little one over and over (until you turn blue) which will in turn help their confidence during our practices.  Thank you in advance for your help with this.   Most children will either be a Pilgrim or a Native American.  Pilgrims will need to wear dark pants/skirts and tops; we provide the hat and collar.  Native Americans can wear jeans and beige colored tops. We have the head dresses.  You may also want to create a decorated vest by using a brown paper bag.  I will place an example in the hall of how one can be made should you be interested.  If your little one is the sailor, we have the outfit for you.  Mr. Weston wears business like clothes as close to what they were wearing back in 1620.  (a trench coat/hat/tie/pants/glasses, etc.)  If your child has been given the part of the turkey, fear not…..we have the costume!   Thank you for your help with this memorable event.

*We will need a paper milk carton, half gallon size, cut down to 4 inches in height, washed out and brought into school on or before Novemeber 8th.  Please place your childs name on the bottom.*

Please note that we have no school on Monday, November 12th and November 22nd

As always, my sincere thanks to all of you for your continued support and especially for your efforts regarding our play.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Mrs. Lori and I wish for all of you the most wonderful Thanksgiving filled with happiness and laughter and memories made.

Mrs. Peggy

LSCNS participates in Scholastic Reading Club. This program allows families to purchase books for kids at a low cost and have them delivered right to our school. Every order helps our classroom earn free books, supplies, and more. Each month, you will see flyers on the shelf in the hallway. Pick one up, browse through it, and, if you choose, fill out the order form and place it in the Scholastic box on the shelf. All orders may be paid by check, payable to Scholastic Reading Club or online at www.scholastic.com/readingclub with class code J3HTZ. We will post the monthly due dates for orders on the flyers each month. If you have any questions, please email info@lscns.org and the parent in charge of the program will get back to you.

Please be sure to always park in the main parking lot on the east side of the building. No parking is allowed in the small lot west of our classroom or along the shoulder of Roberts Road. Please use caution when driving or walking in the parking lot or on the sidewalks.
